Julia's Professional BackgroundJulia earned her BA in Sociology and Spanish from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and her Master of Social Work from New York University’s Silver School of Social Work. Having lived and worked in several countries during and after college, she brings a broad perspective to understanding how culture, identity, and life experiences shape the ways people relate to themselves and others. Her early professional experience spanned refugee support at an immigration clinic, leading adolescent conservation crews through AmeriCorps, and international reproductive health research, deepening her commitment to social justice and community care.
Julia began her clinical work at Trinity Place Shelter, a Manhattan-based shelter for LGBTQ+ youth and young adults, supporting residents navigating crises, housing instability, and complex personal and family circumstances. She continued her clinical training at Cobb Psychotherapy, providing individual therapy to clients navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, self-esteem concerns, identity exploration, and difficult past experiences. Today in private practice, Julia works with adults and adolescents navigating a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, family and relationship dynamics, self-esteem, and life transitions.
Julia draws on relational, mindfulness-based, compassion-focused, and somatic approaches to help clients better understand themselves, recognize patterns, and develop new ways of relating to their emotions and relationships. Informed by her training as a yoga teacher, her approach is collaborative, person-centered, and attentive to the connections between emotional and bodily experiences. As a queer therapist, Julia is especially passionate about supporting LGBTQ+ individuals and welcomes clients of all identities and backgrounds. She strives to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore difficult experiences with curiosity and self-compassion, deepen their understanding of themselves, and discover new possibilities for growth, connection, and change.
